• Film: United Nations Association Film Festival
The Aquarius Theatre at 430 Emerson St. in downtown Palo Alto tomorrow (Oct. 21) hosts opening night for the 14th United Nations Association Film Festival. After 6:45 p.m. opening remarks by Palo Alto Mayor Sid Espinosa, the first screening begins at 7 p.m. with “The Thing That Happened,” a documentary about a school in Uganda whose students are poor, orphans or former child soldiers. Ticket prices vary for festival screenings and other events. • Music: Ensemble Caprice
The early-music Ensemble Caprice performs a concert of Gypsy music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods at 8 p.m. tomorrow (Oct. 21). The performance is at the First Lutheran Church, 600 Homer Ave., Palo Alto. Tickets are $35 general, $30 for seniors, $12 for students and $28 for members of the San Francisco Early Music Society.
