The Stanford women’s basketball program reached into its past one again to bring in a former player to help it move forward.
Cardinal coach Tara VanDerveer announced Susan (King) Borchardt joins the staff as the team’s Sports Performance coach.
“It is great having Susan King Borchardt back at Stanford and now on our staff,” VanDerveer said. “She was one of the hardest working players we have ever had in our program. In addition to her outstanding work ethic she brings terrific energy and expertise to a very important position. Our team, staff and I look forward to working with Susan. She will be very instrumental in our team’s development.”
California grad Lauren Grief was also hired to a full-time position as Special Assistant to the Coaches/Video Coordinator. She was an intern last year.
Borchardt was an assistant coach and strength and conditioning specialist for CB Baloncesto Granada’s Liga EBA team based in Granada, Spain from 2006-09. She’s also interned with the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) World Headquarters in Colorado Springs.
Borchardt, married to former Stanford great Curtis Borchardt, was twice named All-Pac-10 honorable mention. She played a year in the WNBA with the Minnesota Lynx.
Greif’s new duties will include managing the program’s video editing and film exchange as well as assisting with recruiting and social media strategies.
