Unemployment has increased in several counties across the San Francisco Bay Area, according to a state report released Friday.
Santa Clara County’s jobless numbers went from 10.4 percent to 10.5 percent in January, according to the California Employment Development Department.
Jobless rates rose in Solano County from 12.1 percent in December to 12.4 percent.
In San Francisco County, unemployment increased from 9.2 percent to 9.5 percent. Marin County saw jobless rates go from 7.9 percent to 8.2
percent, the report said.

While unemployment was up in the Bay Area, it decreased overall for California in January, according to the EDD.
Jobless numbers statewide fell from 12.5 percent in December to 12.4 percent in January, the department’s report said.
More than 12,500 non-agricultural jobs were added since December across the state, for a January total of 13,971,200 such jobs in California,
according to the EDD.
The unemployment rate is based on a federal survey of 5,500 California households and does not include agricultural jobs, which are
handled by another department.
“There is essentially no difference between the unemployment rate now and the one at this time a year ago; January’s rate, in contrast, showed a 1.1-percentage-point year-over-year improvement. This suggests that the real U.S. jobs situation worsened in February. That is, jobs are relatively less available now than in January.”

I think you (Frank) are pointing out that the statistics put out in the government’s name are manipulated to make the status quo look better.
This is not scientific, and if you scratch deeper betrays a governing philosophy in this country that governing is all about fooling people to manipulate them into working harder and preserving an order that they have to be lied to in order to believe is in their interest. That is totally contrary to the goals of the Constitution, and day after day we put up with it.
