Senior guard Ahjalee Harvey poured in 29 points for the second straight game while leading the Eastside Prep girls’ basketball team to a 54-41 victory over Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) in the Martin Luther King Shootout at Terra Nova High in Pacifica on Monday night.
Harvey, who also tallied 29 to help beat Castilleja last Friday, made six 3-pointers on Monday while fellow senior Takara Burse added six points and eight rebounds as the Panthers improved to 11-6 after holding Pleasant Grove to just three points in the fourth quarter.

Despite tearing it up in the SCVAL De Anza Division with solid defense and just enough offense, Palo Alto stepped up in class on Monday and suffered a 65-60 nonleague loss to host Terra Nova at the Martin Luther King Shootout.
“It was a fast-paced, physical game with both teams looking to score in the transition game,” said Paly coach Scott Peters. “Terra Nova did a better job of getting easy baskets off their transition game and we put them on the line in the fourth quarter, when they went 11 for 14 (Terra Nova only had two baskets during that time).”
The Vikings (11-4) were coming off a dominating 39-9 win over Wilcox last Friday in league play, but the Tigers proved much tougher — even though they only held a one-point lead at halftime.
Even though Terra Nova went ahead for good in the third quarter, the Vikings kept things close until the teams reached the finish line. Palo Alto trailed 63-53 when Terra Nova’s Terilyn Moe sank three free throws with 3:13 remaining, but both times the Vikings whittled away at the Tigers’ lead.
A turnaround jumper by senior forward Katerina Peterson got the Vikings within 63-60 with 2:10 to play, but Terra Nova held the the Vikings without a field goal the rest of the way.
Emilee Osagiede had 16 points to lead Paly while Josie Butler and Stephanie Allen each added nine.
Palo Alto is off until hosting Gunn on Friday (6:15 p.m.) in a showdown for first place in the De Anza Division.
Elsewhere, Menlo School saw its shooting take a holiday on Martin Luther King Day as the Knights scored only 10 first-half points on the way to dropping a 44-29 nonleague game to visiting Lowell (San Francisco) on Monday night. Drew Edelman scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Knights (11-5), who had only four players score. Menlo will host Sacred Heart Prep on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
Girls soccer
Courtney Coprovisa scored an unassisted goal in the first half, but Pinewood’s defense couldn’t hold on as Cupertino rallied to tie with a second-half goal as the teams deadlocked, 1-1, in a nonleague match on Monday in a rescheduled match. Pinewood is now 6-6-1.
