Actor James Franco seems to be everywhere nowadays, most notably in the current film “127 Hours,” where his performance as a hiker in distress is garnering Oscar buzz.

Whether he’s nominated or not, the Palo Alto native will most certainly attend the Oscars. He and fellow actor Anne Hathaway will co-host the 83rd Academy Awards on Feb. 27, the telecast producers announced Monday (Nov. 29). This will be Franco’s second appearance at the ceremony.

“James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons — fresh, exciting and multi-talented,” producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer said in a joint statement.

Hathaway, making her fifth appearance on an Oscar telecast, was nominated for an Academy Award in 2008 for her leading role in “Rachel Getting Married.” Her other films include the current “Love and Other Drugs,” “The Devil Wears Prada” and “The Princess Diaries.” Franco’s other movies include “Eat, Pray, Love,” “Howl” and “Milk.”

The Academy Awards ceremony takes place at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. For more information, go to oscars.org.

  1. Props to Teddy! I liked 127 Hours too, but I almost yelled at the guy behind me who said he might hurl. It’s not actual footage people!
