■ Talk: Roxana Saberi
Tonight (Nov. 15) at 7 p.m., journalist and author Roxana Saberi will give a free talk at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto. The Iranian-American writer was arrested and imprisoned in Iran last year after being accused of spying. Her new book is called “Between Two Worlds: My Life and Captivity in Iran,” and the event is part of a series presented by the educational organization Facing History and Ourselves. Barcelona sculptor Jaume Plensa, known for his Crown Fountain in Chicago’s Millennium Park, is giving a free talk tonight (Nov. 15) at Stanford University’s McCaw Hall in the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center, 326 Galvez St. Plensa also has outdoor works in Spain, France, Israel, Korea and other countries, and Stanford officials are considering commissioning a work by him, Cantor Arts Center director Thomas K.
