Two children playing with matches set fire to dry grass and brush along a trail at the end of Geng Road in Palo Alto, near the Baylands Athletic Center, Wednesday afternoon.
The youngsters tried but failed to extinguish the blaze, but because the grass and brush were so dry they couldn’t put it out, Palo Alto Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Woodard reported.
The fire burned an area of about 20 feet by 50 feet, he said.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 30 minutes, using foam and hand tools.
I hope this scared them so badly that they NEVER try this stunt again.
they will do it again…it happens all the time every year..its never the same kids its always different ones
