The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and Buck’s Restaurant in Woodside plan to get together Thursday morning to host their annual “Tip-A-Cop” event to raise money for the Special Olympics.

Sheriff’s officials will wait tables at 3062 Woodside Road to help raise money for the Special Olympics. During the event sheriff’s deputies will work with regular wait staff serving tables and educating customers about the event, according to the sheriff’s office. Any tips they receive will go directly to the Special Olympics.

Sheriff Greg Munks and Undersheriff Carlos Bolanos will don aprons to help raise money during the event, which runs from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The Special Olympics is an international organization developed to provide mentally and physically challenged children and adults with year-round sports training to help increase their confidence and self-esteem, according to the groups’ Web site.

  1. I am disappointed. I thought this would be cop-tipping like the cow-tipping in the midwest. Giving them money doesn’t sound like nearly as much fun.
