A Los Altos police officer, posing on the Internet as a 12-year-old girl, aided the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office in an investigation that led to the arrest Tuesday of a suspected Internet child pornographer.
David Joseph Welsh, 57, of San Jose, surrendered to police without incident, Los Altos Police Sgt. John Hughmanick said .
Welsh allegedly made sexually explicit comments online to the “girl.”
Welsh’s arrest capped an investigation that started last September when a search warrant was exercised on Welsh’s San Jose home. Police found computers with child pornography on them, Hughmanick said.
Hughmanick said police are now trying to locate victims of online approaches. Anyone with information about should contact the Los Altos Police Department at (650) 947-2770.
