CITY COUNCIL ... The council plans to hear a presentation about the “sibling city” relationship between Palo Alto and Bloomington, Indiana; hold a pre-screening hearing to consider a residential development for educators at 3265 El Camino Real; consider new regulations for parklets; and discuss recommendations from the Human Relations Commission about additional dates to support the city’s race and equity initiative. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 250 Hamilton Ave. Those wishing to participate by Zoom can do so by dialing 669-900-6833 and using Meeting ID: 362 027 238.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 250 Hamilton Ave. Those wishing to participate by Zoom can do so by dialing 669-900-6833 and using Meeting ID: 362 027 238.

BOARD OF EDUCATION … The Palo Alto Unified Board of Education will be holding a closed session on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 5 p.m. and an open session starting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will take place in the boardroom of the district office at 25 Churchill Ave. and will also be broadcast on local cable TV channel 28, Zoom and YouTube at @PaloAltoUnified. Those wishing to participate on Zoom may do so by telephone (instructions will be provided in the agenda). The agenda was not available by the Weekly's press deadline but will be posted at go.boarddocs.com/ca/pausd/Board.nsf/Public 72 hours prior to the meeting.

PLANNING AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION ... The commission plans to consider various changes to the Comprehensive Plan and the municipal code to implement policies in the Housing Element. HISTORIC RESOURCES BOARD ... The board plans to consider a request to classify the former cannery at 340 Portage Ave. as a Category 1 or Category 2 historical resource. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 250 Hamilton Ave. Those wishing to participate by Zoom can do so by dialing 669-900-6833 and using Meeting ID: 968 0019 7512.

HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION ... Sobrato: The commission heard a presentation and took public testimony pertaining to the proposed development with The Sobrato Organization for a project at 340 Portage Ave. and 3200 Park Blvd. that includes a partial demolition of the former cannery building and construction of 74 townhomes. Action: None

UTILITIES ADVISORY COMMISSION (Sept. 6)

Fiber: The commission discussed the city's recent activities and plans pertaining to the expansion of the city's fiber-optic network. Action: None
