Pinewood senior Elle Ladine scored 31 points, which included five 3-pointers, and had 11 rebounds in her final high school girls basketball game Wednesday.

The fourth-seeded Panthers (22-3) lost to No. 5 Oak Ridge, 51-48, in the first round of the CIF State NorCal Open Division playoffs at home.

Ladine scored 586 points (23.4 ppg) and had 365 rebounds in her only full season with Pinewood. She appeared in 10 games as a junior transfer from Lowell.

Ladine will be a freshman at Washington in the fall, playing for Tina Langley, who just completed her first season in Seattle after coaching at Rice.

Washington’s season also ended Wednesday in a 64-52 loss to Colorado in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament.

Langley took time after a recent visit to Stanford to talk about Ladine, one of three top 100 guards signed by the Huskies, who finished 7-16 this season.

“She’s an amazing player and we like her a lot,” Langley said. “She has unlimited potential.”

While Ladine has shown the ability to play numerous positions at Pinewood, Langley said she’ll be a perimeter player for Washington with a chance to make an immediate impact.

Oak Ridge (26-5) won its 10th straight and 15 out of 16 in advancing to Saturday’s regional semifinal at top seeded Campolindo. Freshman Audrey Hernandez led the Trojans with 19 points, which included six 3-pointers.

Pinewood took a 13-3 lead after the first quarter, in which Ladine scored all 13 points.

Oak Ridge narrowed the gap to 26-19 at the half and then took the lead for with 3:24 remaining to play in the third quarter.

Pinewood remained in striking distance and had a chance to tie at the end but could not get the final basket.

Ladine made a pair of free throws with 2:58 remaining to bring Pinewood within 44-43 but Oak Ridge went on a short run.

Pinewood ended its season on a two-game slide, though won its previous 20 in succession.
