Kiana Williams scored eight of her 17 points in the fourth quarter and No. 3 Stanford rallied from a double-digit first-half deficit to beat host Oregon State 61-58 in a Pac-12 Conference women’s basketball contest.

Lexie Hull added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Cardinal (16-2, 5-1), which finds itself in a three-way tie for the conference lead following another hectic weekend of play.

Stanford, which hosts Colorado (13-4, 2-4) at 7 p.m. Friday, is actually in a tad better shape coming out than going into the weekend, despite dropping a game at Oregon.

UCLA (16-1, 5-1) was the only undefeated team in the nation until USC (9-8, 1-5) knocked off them in double overtime on Friday. Oregon (15-2, 5-1) fell to Arizona State (15-4, 5-2) earlier in the season.

Former Pinewood standout Hannah Jump hit a jumper late in the third quarter, giving Stanford a two-point edge heading into the final quarter, which featured wild swings. The game was only over when Oregon State missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

There were two lead changes in the fourth and it was tied five other times. The Beavers (16-2, 4-2) were on the verge of taking over after a 3-pointer gave them a 51-46 advantage with 7:40 remaining to play.

Ashten Prechtel, who scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds, missed a pair of free throws, giving Oregon State an opportunity to extend the lead.

Williams stepped up defensively, recording a steal that led to a fastbreak basket by Lexie Hull. Williams followed with a short jumper to bring the Cardinal within 51-50.

The Beavers went 1-of-2 from the foul line and Prechtel tied the game with a layup, all part of a 14-4 run that put Stanford ahead by five 60-55 with 13 seconds left.

“We had to really battle to win this game,” Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer said. “I’m exceedingly proud of our whole team, but we had some great effort from Kiana; a great floor leader, made big plays over and over, played great defense for us.”

Oregon State made three consecutive free throws to draw within two, but Williams answered, making 1-of-2 foul shots.

The Beavers missed a pair of free throws but got the rebound and a final chance to at least tie the game.

Oregon State threatened to run away with the game, opening a 13-2 edge in the opening quarter.

Stanford came all the way back to take a lead but the Beavers hit a 3-pointer to hold a 36-34 lead into halftime.
