Priory, Mid-Peninsula boys open hoops season with wins

Junior David Ajanku-Makun scored 24 points and Priory opened its boys basketball season with a 79-45 victory over visiting Nueva in a nonleague game Tuesday.

Zach Zafran scored 17 points for the Panthers, who got off to a 15-3 advantage in the first quarter.

Priory heads to the Redwood Classic next Thursday, December 5, and meets Laytonville in the opening round at 3:30 p.m.

Andries Castellano scored nine points, leading a balanced attack, as host Mid-Peninsula opened its season with a 31-27 victory over Averroes on Tuesday.

The Dragons travel to play Kehillah at 5:15 p.m. Monday at the Jewish Community Center in Palo Alto. The girls game precedes it at 3:45 p.m.
