Sacred Heart Prep girls score in third overtime for win

Eleanor Facey scored with six seconds remaining in the third overtime period to lift host Sacred Heart Prep past Miramonte 8-7 in a nonleague contest Friday between two of the top teams in Northern California.

Facey, Bachler and Alexandra Szczerba each scored twice for the Gators (14-2), who travel to play Valley Christian in a West Catholic Athletic League match at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in San Jose. Annabel Facey added a goal and two assists.

Sacred Heart Prep rallied from a 5-2 deficit to gain the victory. Szczerba scored with 34 seconds remaining in regulation to tie it at 6-6 and send the game to overtime.

Bachler gave the Gators a 7-6 advantage with 21 seconds left in the first overtime period. She was assisted by Ashley Penner. Miramonte tied in the second overtime.

Megan Norris, who recorded eight saves, stopped a shot in the third overtime just ahead of Eleanor Facey’s game-winner.
