Stanford placekicker Jet Toner earned Pac-12 Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his game-winning 39-yard field goal in Saturday’s 31-28 victory over Oregon State.
Toner, who was 4-of-4 on PAT tries, also kicked a field goal that was nullified by a Beavers’ penalty that gave Stanford a first down.
The senior, who hails from Honolulu, is 98-of-98 on extra points during his career at Stanford.
Toner, who also delivered two kickoffs for touchbacks, is on the Lou Groza Award preseason watch list. He’s also a preseason Pac-12 first team pick and on Phil Steele’s preseason All-American third team.
A two-time all-Pac-12 selection, Toner kicked a career-best 51-yard field goal in Stanford’s season-opening victory over Northwestern.
He also set a single-season school record with a .933 field goal percentage (14-of-15) last season.
Toner was rated ESPN’s 26th best kicker in the nation coming out of Punahou High school, where he lettered all four years in both football and soccer.
