Sacred Heart Prep fell to Bellarmine 11-7 in the semifinals of the St. Francis Invitational boys’ water polo tournament and then came back to beat the host Lancers 13-6 to earn third place on Saturday.

In nonleague games, host Palo Alto topped Sobrato 13-6 as Dexter Gormley and Zander Darby each scored three times and Menlo-Atherton dropped a heartbreaker, 13-12, to host Acalanes, which scored the game-winner with one second remaining to play.

The Vikings (6-1) travel to Los Altos for a SCVAL De Anza Division contest at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

On Friday, Menlo School beat visiting Sir Francis Drake, which competed in last year’s North Coast Section Open Division, 14-7, as Noah Housenbold and Greg Hilderbrand each scored three times.

The Knights (6-1) host Bellarmine in a West Catholic Athletic League game at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Luke Johnston scored four goals to lead the Gators (4-1) past St. Francis. Jack Vort added three goals and Luke Weigle had two for SHP, which never trailed in the contest.

The Lancers pulled within 5-4 just before halftime but SH Prep opened the second half on an 8-1 run, which included goals from Isaac Rotenberg, Will Swart and Luke Hammarskjold. Jake Tsotadze added a goal and four steals. Wyatt Stenson made five saves in the net.

The Gators won twice Friday, beating Pioneer 13-3 and Buchanan 13-8 (Rotenberg scored six goals), to reach the semifinals.

Sacred Heart Prep travels to San Jose to meet Mitty in a WCAL game at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Gunn dropped a 10-9 decision to Arroyo Grande and finished 12th in the 16-team tournament. The Titans (2-5) beat Serra 18-6 before losing to Valley Christian 14-7.

Gunn hosts Wilcox in a Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division contest on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.

Girls water polo

Isabella Bachler scored for goals and Sacred Heart Prep downed host Campolindo 10-6 in a nonleague game Friday.

Girls tennis

Singles players Sara Quinlan and Ella Sheehan and all three doubles teams came through as host Sacred Heart Prep beat St. Ignatius 5-2 in a nonleague match Friday.

The Gators (3-2) host Gunn at 4 p.m. Monday.
