Mac Bingham hit a home run among his three hits but the Pacific Union Financial Capitalists fell behind early and never caught up in a 17-3 loss to visiting Healdsburg Prune Packers in a nonconference summer baseball contest Wednesday at Palo Alto High.

Caiden Matheny, Ethan Cloyd and Bingham drove in runs for the Caps (8-2), who travel to play the Lincoln Potters at 6:35 p.m. Friday.

Former Palo Alto standout Josh Kasevich, Stanford incoming Max Meier and three others combined to give up 17 runs, all earned, on 18 hits. They also combined for nine strikeouts and 10 walks.

San Francisco Seagulls 6, Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox 3

Former Palo Alto standout Ethan Stern walked four times and scored a run to help the Seagulls win their third straight Golden State Collegiate Baseball League contest, downing the Gold Sox at San Bruno City Park on Wednesday.

Stern, who plays shortstop for San Francisco, also recorded a pair of stolen bases and is second on the team with eight.

Stern just completed his sophomore year at Lafayette College, where he earned second team all-Patriot League honors. He recorded a fielding percentage of .971, with seven errors in 242 chances. Stern also had a seven-game hitting streak during the season.

Portola Valley resident Cole Gabrielson, a Woodside High grad, just completed his freshman year at College of San Mateo.
