Warren Cook’s three-run home run in the first inning gave Dutch Goose a huge lift en route to a 7-4 victory over Old Pro in an elimination baseball game Monday as part of the Palo Alto Babe Ruth League Tournament at Baylands.

Nathan Yu, Nate Donaker and Simon Illouz combined to limit Old Pro to eight hits, recording seven strikeouts and four walks.

The victory sends Dutch Goose, the PABR regular-season champion, into Tuesday’s championship against Sundance needing two victories to claim the tournament title. Game times at Baylands are 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., if necessary.

Josh Donaker, Cook and Tyler Mostofizadeh each had two hits for the Goose while Remington Allen and Rory Ferrick each had a pair of hits and Nate Watkins drove in two runs for Old Pro.

Dutch Goose loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the first. A double play allowed a run to score and another scored on a fielding error, with Diego Clarke reaching base safely. After Mostofizadeh singled, Cook delivered his home run.

The Goose added two runs in the third to make it 7-1. Cook singled home a run and another scored on an error.

Lennon Seiders allowed two hits the rest of the way as Old Pro began chipping away at the lead. Watkins drove in two with a fourth-inning single and Allen doubled in a run with one out in the seventh.

Illouz got the final two batters to preserve the victory and send Dutch Goose into Championship Tuesday.
