Maverick Handley and Jack Little were named Pac-12 All-Academic first team and 10 other Cardinal earned All-Academic recognition from the conference it was announced Thursday.

Handley (bioengineering) ties for the highest grade-point average (3.78) of any All-Academic honoree while Little (management science and engineering) joined him on the first team with a 3.63 GPA.

Brendan Beck (undeclared) earned a spot on the second team while Nick Bellafronto (public policy), Andrew Daschbach (science, technology and society), Duke Kinamon (science, technology and society), Will Matthiessen (management science and engineering), Erik Miller (science, technology and society), Jacob Palisch (computer science), Kyle Stowers (communication), Tim Tawa (undeclared) and Alec Wilson (management science and engineering) earned honorable mentions.

To be eligible for All-Academic teams, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above and participate in at least half of the team’s scheduled regular-season events.

Football

The Pac-12 Conference television partners announced select kickoff times for four 2019 Stanford Football games on Thursday. The Cardinal learned kickoff times and television designations for games against Northwestern, at USC, at UCF and UCLA.

The season opener at Stanford Stadium against Northwestern will kickoff at 1 p.m. PT on FOX. The Cardinal and Wildcats will meet for the eighth time, and the first time since 2015. Stanford owns a 3-2-2 record against Northwestern. The two programs first met in 1933, playing to a 0-0 tie.

The Cardinal will travel to USC in week two for a primetime showdown with the Trojans. That game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. PT on ESPN. Stanford and USC will play for the 99th time after the Cardinal posted a 17-3 win last season.

Stanford will travel to Orlando for a week three matchup with Central Florida. Kickoff against the Knights is set for 12:30 p.m. PT and will be televised on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. In the only meeting to date, the Cardinal defeated UCF 31-7 in 2015.

The final game time announced on Thursday was a Thursday night (Oct. 17) showdown at Stanford Stadium between Stanford and UCLA. That game will kickoff at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN. The Cardinal and Bruins have met 90 times previously and Stanford has won 11 straight in the series.

The Northwestern game will serve as Cardinal Kids Day, the Bill Walsh Legacy Game and is presented by Stanford Children’s Health. Kids going into eighth grade or younger get in free with the purchase of an adult ticket.
