The seventh-ranked Stanford women’s golf team is currently in sixth place as play was suspended mid-round on Saturday at Blessings Golf Club. Six groups finished their round Saturday morning before play was called due to impending weather.

Play did not resume the rest of the day as the area saw tornado warnings and heavy thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

The Cardinal is 2-over so far on the round and in sixth-place. Stanford’s five golfers ranged from completing holes 12 through 15.

The Cardinal was even on the front nine with a counted score of 1-under. As a team, Stanford totaled 14 birdies on the day before play was suspended.

Albane Valenzuela was 1-under for the day through 12 holes and is now tied for seventh. She birdied the ninth and 11th holes before a bogey on 12. Mika Liu was even on her round through 15 holes. She posted four birdies and four bogeys.

After bogeying two of the first five holes, Aline Krauter came back to birdie No. 7 and 10. She was 1-over on the day through 13 holes. Ziyi Wang and Andrea Lee were both 2-over. Wang was through 14 holes while Lee was through 13. Lee had four birdies on the day.

The 12 teams with afternoon tee times did not begin their rounds.

Play will resume on Sunday morning at 8 a.m. The Cardinal will finish its second round on Sunday only. The stroke play portion of the tournament has been shortened to 54 holes with all 24 teams and 12 individuals playing their third round on Monday. After that, the field will be cut to eight teams for match play to begin on Tuesday.
