Rollover crash forces Embarcadero closure

One man treated for head lacerations after Friday collision

A collision between a pickup truck and a sedan prompted Palo Alto emergency responders to shut down Embarcadero Road to traffic on Friday afternoon.

The collision occurred shortly after 3 p.m., near the intersection of Embarcadero and Cowper Street. The collision forced Nissan truck to roll over on Embarcadero, while the Volvo sedan sustained heavy damage in the front.

There were two adult male occupants in each vehicle. All were conscious and breathing and none appeared to have serious injuries as a result of the crash, though one person received treatment from Palo Alto Fire Department personnel for cuts on his head.

The two people inside the truck were both able to get out of the truck without assistance, according to Fire Captain Ryan Stoddard.

Palo Alto police closed Embarcadero between Waverley and Cowper streets shortly after the collision. Traffic was redirected to neighborhood streets.

Is someone going to tell us how this happened? Excessive speed by one or both drivers? One or both drivers ran a red light? What else is missing from this article?
