Local boys soccer club wins 3 of 4 at Las Vegas Showcase

After winning the NorCal National Premier League 2 boys soccer league last spring, the Palo Alto 02B Blue team (U-17) will move up to the NPL1 league, which begins March 23.

Palo Alto 02B, which plays its home games at Cubberly, has progressed through the age group divisions together since it was formed in 2012.

The team, currently ranked 65th in the nation and 13th in Norcal, is scheduled to participate in severalo tournaments such as Manchester City Cup and Surf Cup in San Diego.

In recent action, Palo Alto won three of its four matches at the Las Vegas Player Showcase to finish in a tie for second (third on a tie-breaker) in the Mirage Division.

Palo Alto beat Arsenal Academy II, 2-0, San Diego Albion, 2-0, and Antelope Valley, 2-1. The team dropped a 2-1 decision to Heat ECNL.

Several college coaches were on hand to scout the tournament.

Palo Alto's first home game this spring is Sunday, March 31 at 10 a.m.

The team is coached by Ian Drury and includes: Jackson Druker, Dylan Penagos, Luke Trill, Joey Cianfichi, Akitoshi Kuramochi, Alejando Saldana, Eshaan Divatia, Jimmy Dessouki, Victor Micha, Jahan Seifollahi, Jeffrey Fung, Drew Mukherjee, Christopher Chen, Rayan Taghizadeh, Benjamin Yang, Mathias Giomi, Xander Stabile, Lorenzo Fonseca, Peter Schusser, Eshan Jain, Luca Brody, Aidan Chueh.
