Byxbee Park hosts bioblitz

The public is invited to take part in a citizen science "bioblitz" event at Byxbee Park in the Palo Alto Baylands on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 11 a.m. to noon.

The "Foraging Island" environmental public-art project was installed in September to help re-establish habitat for local wildlife. At Sunday's event, volunteers will be trained on recording observations with the iNaturalist app as they survey the park to see if the installation is indeed attracting a variety of species.

Artists Mary O'Brien and Daniel McCormick will then give a talk on their work at 2 p.m. at Grassroots Ecology.

To register, go to Byxbee Bioblitz.

Over 250 species were identified through more than 1,300 observations at a bioblitz at the Palo Alto Baylands in February 2018. Read the full story here.
