Alexi Stravropoulos, Max Sloat and Alex Moretti each scored a goal and Liam Johnson recorded a pair of assists as Sacred Heart Prep opened its boys’ soccer season with a 3-2 victory at Santa Cruz on Friday.

The Gators were scheduled to meet host Carmel on Saturday morning. They host Mountain View at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

Menlo School was also victorious in its opener, beating visiting Terra Nova, 5-0, as Connor Nelson scored twice. Jonny Ebrahiman, Max Colowick and Aaron Morgan also scored for the Knights, who play at Woodside at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Xander Stabile, Christian Corcoran, Ben Lasky, Andrei Volgin each recorded an assist for Menlo and goalie Adam Kasser preserved the shutout with a leaping save in the final minutes.

Boys basketball

Seniors Evan Dray and Nik Olsson combined for 34 points and 21 rebounds and Gunn downed visiting Saratoga, 43-41, in a nonleague game Friday night. The Titans (1-1) are scheduled to play at Hillsdale at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Jai Deshpande scored 16 points but Sacred Heart Prep fell to Mission, 66-57, on Friday in the Crusader Classic at Riordan.

The Gators (0-2) were scheduled to meet Mills, also at Riordan, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Sacred Heart Prep hosts Menlo-Atherton at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Girls basketball

Menlo School beat Marin Catholic, 67-30, in the semifinal round of the Marin Catholic Tournament on Friday night and will play St. Ignatius for the tournament title Saturday night.

Maeia Makoni scored 16 points to lead the Knights (2-0), who are looking to repeat as tournament champs.

Menlo plays Granada in the opener of the Alameda Tournament on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Megan Norris scored 12 points and Charlotte Levison added 11 but Sacred Heart Prep fell to St. Francis, 65-38, in the championship game of the Mills Tournament on Friday.

The Gators (4-1) open The King’s Academy Tournament on Thursday.

Girls soccer

Gunn and Westmont played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday on opening day of the Firebird Classic at Fremont High in Sunnyvale.

The Titans (1-1-1) host Mountain View at 6 p.m. Monday.
