Palo Alto’s Maddi Page and Kamila Wong won their first two matches in doubles at the Central Coast Section singles and doubles tournament at Bay Side Courtside on Tuesday in Los Gatos.

The third-seeded Viking duo beat Stevenson’s Eszter Speder and Taylure Craven, 6-2, 6-3 in the first round and followed that with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Silver Creek’s Chloe Nguyen and Audrey Nguyen.

Page and Wong will meet the second-seeded Los Altos duo of Yuu Ishikawa and Kylie Akiyama in Wednesday’s noon semifinal at Bay Club Courtside. The finals follow afterward.

Menlo School’s Tricia Zhang and Brynn Brady, both freshmen, won their first round match, 6-0, 6-1, over Westmont’s Abigal Proctor and Patra Lu and then lost to St. Ignatius’ Emma Pell and Tiffany Boudagian, 6-1, 6-0, in the quarterfinals.

Pell and Boudagian advanced after getting by Menlo-Atherton’s Charlie Smith and Katie Donahue, 6-1, retired.

In the singles tournament, Sacred Heart Prep’s Isa Robinson and Lindsey Lynch each won in the first round before losing in the quarterfinals.

Robinson took care of Santa Cruz’s Tallia Harper, 6-2, 6-3, in the early match and fell to fourth-seeded Arushi Malik of Cupertino, 6-2, 6-0.

Lynch topped Santa Catalina’s Annabel Stork, 6-4, 6-4, and then fell to second-seeded Kate Duong, 6-0, 6-0.

Menlo-Atherton’s Allison Browne dropped a competitive match to St. Ignatius’ Gabby Perich, 7-5, 6-3.

Duong and Malik were also two reasons why Cupertino beat Palo Alto, 4-3, in Monday’s team final. Wong lost to Duong, 6-3, 6-1 and Malik beat Page, 6-3, 6-3.

The Pioneers (16-5) swept the singles while Palo Alto (11-12) won all three doubles matches.

Agnes Mar and Myra Xu rallied from a first set loss to win at No. 3 doubles, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Gwyn Wong and Anuva Banwasi won decisively, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles and Rachel Owens and Despina Magouliou won at the top of the ladder, 6-0, 6-2.

Girls’ golf

Castilleja senior Niav Layton is scheduled to tee off from the 10th tee at 8:40 a.m. in Wednesday’s CIF State Championships at Victoria Club in Riverside.

Palo Alto freshman Bridget O’Keefe will follow her on the 10th tee 10 minutes later.

Both golfers qualified as individuals out of the Northern California tournament.
