Tulare senior commits to Menlo College women's hoops

Tulare High senior Kiara Brown became the latest to commit to the Menlo College women's basketball program as announced by Oaks coach Shannon Spataro on Tuesday.

Brown becomes the third player, joining Cosumnes Oaks High senior Jordyn Rosette and Snohomish (WA) senior Courtney Perry, in Menlo's latest recruiting class.

The 6-foot-1 Brown can play both the forward and post positions, and has done so with high-impact results for Tulare. She delivered a record-setting junior season for the Tribe, averaging 26.5 points per game and 18.5 rebounds.

Brown also averages over three steals and blocks per game in addition to her scoring and rebounding. She reached 1,000 career points and rebounds last season en route to being named East Yosemite League MVP and receiving Player of the Year honors for the county. She's a three-time All-County pick and earned third-team All-State honors last year.

"Kiara is a great competitor and we are really excited about her joining our program," Spataro said. "She is a relentless rebounder who also finishes really well around the basket. We are looking forward to Kiara having a great career at Menlo."

Menlo, which reached the NAIA national tournament last year, opens the season against Notre Dame de Namur on Nov. 1.
