The Palo Alto girls golf team remained undefeated in dual matches, recording a 210-234 victory over Gunn at Baylands Golf Links on Monday. It was the Titans first loss.

All 12 golfers shot between 39 and 51 on the day as the Vikings (6-0, 4-0) look to defend their Santa Clara Athletic League championship. Paly plays Lynbrook at Deep Cliff CC at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Gunn (3-1, 2-1) takes on Los Gatos at La Rinconada CC at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Palo Alto was tuned in thanks to the Sung sisters, who produced gold with 60 percent of the total. Katherine Sung led the way, spinning a 39 into a slight breeze and earning medalist honors. Sydney Sung hit the charts with a round of 42 and Lauren Sung finished with a 44.

Priya Bakshi matched Sydney Sung’s 42 and Madison Pineda added a 43 to keep Vikings atop the league standings.

Isabella Yu and Rachel Hollett shared team honors, each with a round of 44. Freshman Athina Chen hot a 48, with Angela Ryu and Cynthia Dharmawan each contributing a 49. Senior Isha Mohan finished with a 51.

West Bay Athletic League

This season has an eerily similar look to last season, when the top three teams in the league had a chance to win the regular-season title on the final day of the season.

Menlo School (5-1, 5-1) handed Castilleja its first loss of the season with a 215-218 decision at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club on Monday.

Gators’ senior Niav Layton earned medalist honors with an even-par 36 but the Knights’ top golfers were closely grouped. Juniors Vikki Xu and Sulwen Ma each fired a round of 38 and junior Gianna Inguagiato followed with a 40. Freshman Taylor Baik shot a 45.

Castilleja (7-1, 7-1) did not go home empty-handed, earning a 218-333 win over The King’s Academy in a three-way meet.

Harker (5-0, 5-0) beat Sacred Heart Prep, 196-261, also at Sharon Heights to move into sole possession of first place in the WBAL. Danielle Sarkisian shot 45 to lead SHP.

Harker and Castilleja are scheduled to meet at Silver Creek CC at 3 p.m. Wednesday while Menlo and Sacred Heart Prep (3-5, 3-4) play Thursday at Baylands GL.

Castilleja and Menlo has a rematch slated next Monday and the Knights are scheduled to meet Harker next Tuesday.

Girls basketball

Priory senior Ila Lane has officially committed to UC Santa Barbara according to a tweet from Panthers’ coach Buck Mathews on Tuesday.

Lane, who helped Priory reach the state finals last year, “had multiple D1 offers, including Power 5 offers,” Mathews tweeted.

Boys water polo

Menlo-Atherton split four matches at the Carmel Invitational on Saturday, beating Woodcreek, 10-8, and host Carmel, 13-10. The Bears (3-6) lost to Northgate, 9-6, and to Soquel, 17-7.

Menlo-Atherton hosts Menlo School in a Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division showdwon on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
