Menlo-Atherton High Athletic Directors Paul Snow and Steven Kryger announced the hiring of Tom Kemp as the head coach of the varsity girls softball team, replacing Rich Ferrick, who stepped down after two years.
Kemp has over 7 years of experience coaching competitive travel softball teams for local girls softball leagues such as Mountain-View Los Altos (MVLA) and Palo Alto Girls Softball (PAGS).
Kemp has also previously served as a PAGS board member, leading both player and coach development for the league. Most recently, Kemp founded and is head coach of the Palo Alto Redwoods, an independent travel softball team.
Besides his success in coaching softball, Kemp has also held both community and corporate leadership roles.
Kemp serves as an Executive Board Member of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG), a public policy group that represents over 350 Bay Area companies.
Kemp also co-founded Centrify Corporation, a cybersecurity company that was recently named by Inc. Magazine as one of America's fastest growing companies. In 2018 Kemp was selected by EY as an Entrepreneur of The Year Award Finalist in Northern California.
"I love coaching softball and I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity to build upon a solid base and really grow the softball program at M-A," Kemp said. "I look forward to mentoring and coaching the players to not only be better softball players, but also to be better teammates, student athletes and leaders."
“We are very excited to welcome Coach Tom Kemp to the Menlo-Atherton coaching staff and look forward to the continued and future successes in the girls softball program under his leadership,” Show said.
