Freshman Genna Gibbons scored in overtime, one of her team-high three goals, as Sacred Heart Prep edged host Menlo, 7-6, Tuesday to take over sole possession of first place in the West Bay Athletic League.

Allison Carter scored twice and added an assist for the Gators (3-1, 3-0), who host Mitty at 4 p.m. Friday. Emma Briger had eight saves. Grace Johnson and Ingrid Corrigan also scored for Sacred Heart Prep.

Charlotte Swisher scored times to lead Menlo (2-2, 2-1), which travels to Burlingame for a 4 p.m. game Friday. Alyssa Sahami recorded seven saves.

Annie Payne scored four goals and Hannah Shaw added three as the Menlo-Atherton girls lacrosse beat visiting Burlingame 15-2 in a WBAL Foothill Division match on Tuesday.

Audrey Koren and Bea Geaghan-Breiner each added a pair of goals for the Bears (3-2, 3-1), who travel to Redwood for a nonleague game Friday at 4 p.m.

Also in the WBAL, Mitty topped host Castilleja, 19-17, at El Camino Park in Palo Alto despite nine goals and five draw controls from Taylor DeGroff.

Olivia Watson added three goals and three assists for the Gators (1-4, 1-3), who travel to St. Francis for 4 p.m. match Friday. Anika Tse had 10 saves.

Boys golf

Menlo-Atherton remained undefeated in Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division after beating Sequoia, 194-232, Tuesday at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club.

M-A’s Jackson Lee fired a nine-hole round of 34 to earn medalist honors for the day. He was joined on the leaderboard by teammates Leo Tuchman (35) and Jonathan Dicks (37).

Jake Hoffman (43), Andre Wilkins (45) and James Burke (48) also competed for the Bears (7-0), who are scheduled to meet San Mateo on Monday.

Will Schmutz made a smooth transition from basketball court to golf course, firing a round of 44 to help Palo Alto beat host Mountain View, 190-225, at The Golf Club at Moffett Field on Tuesday.

Coed badminton

Palo Alto fell to visiting Lynbrook, 17-13, Tuesday in a SCVAL match. The Vikings (0-2) travel to Wilcox for a 3:30 p.m. match Thursday.

Boys lacrosse

Menlo scored the first five goals en route to a 16-8 nonleague victory over Foothill in Pleasanton on Tuesday night.

Eight players scored for the Knights (4-2), led by senior David Schmaier, who had five. Sophomores Ryan Young and Samson Axe each had a hat trick and combined for three assists.

Finn Leschly , also a sophomore, scored and added two assists while senior Brody LaPorte had a goal and an assist.
