Webcast: Concern over 'Cool Block' program funds

Palo Alto Weekly Editor Jocelyn Dong and Staff Writers Sue Dremann and Elena Kadvany discuss the proposed $100,000 Cool Block community-building program, which is stirring controversy. The program would build on two previous pilot programs that helped residents form teams on a block-by-block basis to reduce their carbon footprints, conserve water and engage in emergency preparedness. But some residents oppose the program, which they feel should continue to be run by volunteers. Others support the program and say it has helped them to feel connected to their community again -- a goal of the city. Watch the webcast here.
