Menlo's Hegmann earns second GSAC weekly soccer honor

Menlo College's Eric Hegmann earned Golden State Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors it was announced Tuesday.

Hegmann, who also won the honor a month ago, scored twice in Menlo's 3-1 win over The Master's on Thursday. His first goal came 12 seconds into the match, and then he scored in the 53rd minute.

Hegmann leads the Oaks with 11 goals and four multi-goal games.

The Oaks (7-7-2, 5-3-1) can clinch a playoff spot with a victory in their regular season finale at 11 a.m. Saturday against visiting William Jessup.

The game is part of Oaktoberfest and will also serve as Senior Day. Menlo is currently tied for fifth place with Arizona Christian.

The GSAC playoffs begin Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. at either Hope International or The Master's.

The semifinals and championship game will take place at Westmont College on Thursday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 11.
