Curtains Cabaret, the local Burlesque-theater company, describes its newest offering, “Showgirls in Space,” as a sci-fi odyssey through space, time, and glitter.
The one-night-only show, held Saturday, July 22, at 8 p.m at the Dragon Theatre (2120 Broadway St., Redwood City), draws on the burlesque tradition of combining campy comedy with eroticism, this time with a science-fiction twist.
The plot? “The Killjoy Empire is on the verge of destroying the universe’s only remaining source of Sparkle. Can an agent of G.L.I.T.T.E.R. (Galactic Interstellar Tassle Twirlers Encouraging Revolution) stop them or will humanity lose their ability to dance and feel joy forever?” Tickets are $10-$20 and can be purchased at Brown Paper Tickets.
