The No. 4 Stanford women’s tennis team posted its third consecutive shutout, coasting past visiting San Jose State, 7-0, Tuesday at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

The Cardinal (3-0) captured the doubles point before winning in straight sets at all six singles spots.

Leading 1-0, Melissa Lord and Taylor Davidson powered their way to easy wins before Emily Arbuthnott provided her first career clincher with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 5 spot.

It’s the first of three matches this week for Stanford, which can now focus on its most difficult nonconference road swing in recent memory.

Stanford faces No. 6 Oklahoma State (8-1) on Friday in a rematch of last year’s national championship, then travels to No. 1 Florida (7-0) two days later to resume what has become the best non-Pac-12 rivalry in college tennis.
