German Holiday Market

Post-election America got you down? Hankering for a taste of Europe, or perhaps just seeking a bit of holiday cheer? The German International School of Silicon Valley’s annual Weihnachtsmarkt (German Holiday Market), which recreates the traditional open-air winter markets of Germany, Austria and the Alps, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at at City Hall Plaza, 500 Castro St., Mountain View. Refreshments available include Glühwein (warm mulled wine), Kinderpunsch (warm cider), Würste (sausages), Stollen (fruit cake), Lebkuchen (gingerbread) and Gebrannte Mandeln (toasted candied almonds) and a variety of artisans and local merchants will be selling their wares. The event will also include live holiday music and fun activities for children. Admission is free; go to German Holiday Market.
