Palo Alto police seek man who exposed himself

Woman captured photo of the alleged perpetrator's car

A woman who reported a man exposed himself to her and her dog in Palo Alto on Wednesday was able to get a picture of his car with her cell phone as he fled, Palo Alto police said in a press release.

The woman, in her 20s, and her dog were walking northbound on the 2400 block of Louis Road approaching Oregon Expressway at about 11:20 a.m. when a car pulled up next to her and stopped, police said. The woman kept walking, but the car pulled forward and stopped next to her again, she told police.

The driver asked her how to get to the freeway. He allegedly had his penis exposed and was masturbating. He then made a U-turn and fled southbound on Louis Road. The woman took a photograph of his car with her cell phone, police said. Dispatchers received her complaint at about 12:07 p.m.

The woman described the man as a light-skinned black or biracial male in his late 20s to mid-30s with a thin build. He had groomed facial hair and possibly a goatee. He wore a gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt and a dark beanie with white headphones in his ears. He was driving an older maroon-colored four-door Mazda sedan with a spoiler, police said.

Detectives are investigating the case. There have been no other cases recently in Palo Alto with a similarly described suspect or vehicle, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Palo Alto Police Department's 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413. Anonymous tips can be e-mailed to paloalto@tipnow.org or sent by text message or voice mail to 650-383-8984.
