Community Notebook: Palo Alto to honor veterans Nov. 7

To honor local veterans and those currently serving in the United States Armed Forces, as well as the families and caregivers who support them, the City of Palo Alto is hosting a Veterans Day Recognition Event on Monday, Nov. 7.

Mayor Pat Burt will host the event, which will highlight local men and women who have "protected America's liberties through their service and sacrifice," according to an event announcement.

Lt. General Rex C. McMillian will share his thoughts about serving the country at the event, held inside the El Palo Alto Room at Mitchell Park Community Center, 3700 Middlefield Road.

The event will start at 3 p.m. and will feature services and resources tables and a meet-and-greet in the courtyard. Vets are encouraged to wear their uniforms.
