Mims the word in Menlo-Atherton football romp over the Irish


Jordan Mims rushed for 305 yards on 19 carries and scored four times to help the Menlo-Atherton High football team take care of host Sacred Heart Cathedral, 49-0, at Kezar Stadium on Friday night.

Mims averaged 16.1 yards a carry, with a long of 97 yards as the Bears (1-2) went up, 21-0, in the first quarter.

M-A gained 453 yards on the ground, with Stavro Papadakis (3-68), Aajon Johnson (10-53) and Miles Conrad (5-27) all contributing. Papadakis and Johnson also scored touchdowns.

Johnson, 3-of-6 for 76 yards passing, connected with Mekhi Blackmon on a 41-yard scoring toss. In all, the Bears amassed 529 total offensive yards.

Tate Tussing and Terrance Matthews-Murphy each had an interception and Christian Wiseman recorded a team-high 11 tackles, eight solo, including a quarterback sack. Papadakis and Devon Dundas each added seven tackles and a sack.

Spencer Corona was 7-of-7 on PAT tries for M-A, which hosts Los Gatos at 7 p.m. Friday.

Woodside 40, Hillsdale 34

Sophomore quarterback Joseph King threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns and senior running back Marcelous Chester-Riley rushed for 166 yards and scored twice as the Wildcats won a battle of unbeatens Friday night, beating visiting Hillsdale in a nonleague contest.

Francisco Maza-Robles, Adrian Juilland-Johnson and Weston Bourgeois each caught a touchdown pass for Woodside (3-0),

Chester-Riley also added 137 return yards for an all-purpose total of 302.

Chris Brugger had 12 tackles, recovered a fumble and blocked a field goal to lead the defense, while Tristan Wegman and Xavier Cruz each recorded eight tackles.

Palma 35, Sacred Heart Prep 6

The Gators (0-3) fell behind early and could not recover. Thomas Wine scored the only touchdown on a 1-yard run. He finished with 77 passing yards.

Garrett Gavello ran for 45 yards on nine carries for Sacred Heart Prep, which plays at McClymonds (2-1) next Saturday.

Priory 68, Crystal Springs Uplands 28

Keyshawn Ashford rushed for 200 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Priory past the visiting Gryphons in a nonleague 8-man football game Friday.

Jaeden Barker added 159 rushing yards and scored twice. Henry Wise caught a pair of touchdown passes from Adrian LaValle and Priory (1-0) was successful on seven two-point conversations.

The Panthers host East Palo Phoenix Academy at 3 p.m. Friday.
