Titans earn a dramatic 5-set victory in coach's first match

 

Tara Tracy recorded 16 kills and 12 digs and the Gunn girls volleyball team opened its season with an exciting 26-24, 25-21, 23-25, 15-25, 15-9 victory over host Hillsdale in a nonleague match Friday night.

The Titans gave their first-year coach Praneet Nanda, who coached previously at Santa Teresa High, a victory in his debut at the school.

Blythe Weng added nine kills, on a .444 hitting percentage, and 12 digs for Gunn, which hosts Castilleja in a nonleague match on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.

Taylor Pedersen added 11 kills and Dila Kurt recorded 17 digs.

In another nonleague match, Pinewood topped host Valley Christian of Dublin in straight sets.

Several teams are involved in Spikefest I on Saturday at Milpitas and Independence High schools
