Fire breaks out at homeless encampment in Menlo Park

No reports of injuries or damage to structures, fire officials say

Firefighters put out a brush fire that broke out at a homeless encampment in Menlo Park this morning.

Firefighters reported the fire at about 12:30 a.m.

The fire broke out at the edge of East Palo Alto in the area of University Avenue, Bayfront Expressway and Willow Road, according to the Menlo Park Fire Protection District.

Thirteen firefighters responded to the fire, which burned about a quarter-acre, firefighters said.

There were no reports of injuries or damage to any structures.

The fire broke out in the same area where another fire burned in March, according to the fire protection district.
