Pacific Union wins on ninth-inning homer

Alejandro Lara hit a two-run home run with two out in the ninth inning to give the Pacific Union Caps an 11-10 win Saturday over the Walnut Creek Crawdads.

Lara's blast scored Javier Valdes, who had hit a one-out triple. Valdes homered earlier in the game.

The Menlo Park Legends closed out a tough weekend in Santa Barbara with a pair of losses -- 4-3 on Saturday and 16-10 on Sunday -- to the Santa Barbara Foresters in California Collegiate League action.

Chandler Bengtson homered and had two RBIs for the Legends.

In the Sunday slugfest, Menlo Park trailed 8-3 before putting together a six-run sixth inning to take the lead.

It was a 10-8 lead going to the bottom of the seventh, but Santa Barbara scored one in the seventh and seven in the eighth to pull out the win.

Steven McLean, Nick Brooks and Clayton Casey all homered for Menlo Park (9-5, 1-5).
