Legends look to bounce back from first baseball loss

The Menlo Park Legends dropped their California Collegiate League opener Tuesday, 5-1, to the host Walnut Creek Crawfords. It was the Legends (0-1, 2-1) first loss of the season.

Steven McLean led off the game with an infield single and R.J. Williams followed with a triple, giving the Legends the early advantage.

Sean Watkins singled in the third for Menlo Park's only other hit of the contest.

Left-hander Jacob Wilcox pitched six strong innings, allowing a run on five hits, walking three and striking out six.

The Crawfords broke the tie in the eighth inning.

Menlo Park returns to action for a three-game series with the Alameda Merchants, beginning Wednesday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the College of Alameda.

Game three will conclude the series as the Legends return home for a 5:00 PM start. All three games of the series will be broadcasted live on the Legends Radio Network.
