Stanford men place four on AVCA All-American team


The Stanford men's volleyball team had four players recognized when the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its All-America selections on Monday.

The Cardinal led the nation with three players selected to the first team -- seniors Conrad Kaminski and James Shaw, and sophomore Evan Enriques. Senior Madison Hayden received honorable-mention accolades.

The selections bring Stanford's total AVCA All-America award count to 55 honors spread over 25 players. It marks the second time in the past three seasons in which the Cardinal has produced four All-Americans.

Kaminski received his third career honor after picking up honorable-mention accolades in 2014 and 2015. Shaw was recognized by the AVCA for the second time as he was a second-team member in 2014. Enriques and Hayden are honored for the first time in their careers.

Here's a look at Stanford's All-Americans:

Evan Enriques / Libero / Punalu'u, Hawai'i

* All-MPSF Second Team

* Stanford's starting libero

* Led the MPSF in digs per set (2.53)

* Posted double-digit digs in nine matches

* Posted a career-high 18 digs at Long Beach State (Feb. 5)

* Tied his career-high with four assists at UCLA (April 7)

* Held a .967 reception rate for the season

Conrad Kaminski / Middle Blocker / New Berlin, Wis.

* All-MPSF First Team

* Led the nation with 1.45 blocks per set

* Ranked sixth in the conference with a .478 hitting percentage

* Averaged a career-best 2.29 kills and 3.33 points per set

* Posted 12 kills and tallied seven blocks in a win at No. 1 BYU (Jan. 15)

* Hit a season-high .786 (11-0-14) and notched nine blocks at No. 1 BYU (Jan. 16)

* Put down a season-high three aces versus No. 4 UC Irvine (Jan. 23) and No. 10 Pepperdine (March 6)

* Recorded a career-high 15 kills on .542 hitting and eight blocks versus No. 9 Pepperdine (March 12)

* First career double-double with 11 kills and a season-high 10 blocks versus USC (March 24)

* 12 kills and a season-high tying 10 blocks against No. 10 CSUN (March 30) for another double-double

* Notched a career-high three solo blocks at No. 7 UC Santa Barbara (April 9)

James Shaw / Setter / Woodside

* MPSF Player of the Year

* All-MPSF First Team

* AVCA National Player of the Week (April 5)

* Four double-doubles on the year

* Ranked fourth in the MPSF and 12th in the nation with 10.12 assists per set

* Seventh in the MPSF with 0.35 aces per set

* Guided the Cardinal to a .336 team hitting percentage, ranking third in the nation

* Tallied 49 assists and five blocks, including three solo, at IPFW (Jan. 9)

* Recorded 54 assists in the win at No. 1 BYU (Jan. 15)

* Collected a career-best 16 digs to go with 46 assists at No. 1 BYU (Jan. 16)

* Registered a season-high 56 assists in the MPSF quarterfinals against No. 6 UCSB (April 16)

Madison Hayden / Outside Hitter / Huntington Beach

All-MPSF Second Team

* MPSF Player of the Week (Feb. 15)

* Ranked in the top 5 in the MPSF in kills (3.47) and points (4.03)

* Notched double-digit kills in 17 of 24 matches played

* Led the team with 13 kills on .478 hitting in the seson opener at Ball State (Jan. 8)

* Tallied 18 kills and 10 digs at IPFW (Jan. 9) for his second career double-double

* Posted a career-high 24 kills on .462 hitting in the win at No. 1 BYU (Jan. 15)

* Hit a career-best .667 (14-2-18) in a sweep over No. 10 UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 19)

* Tied his career-high with five blocks in a win over USC (March 24)

* Matched his career-best with five aces in a sweep against No. 15 Cal Baptist (March 25)

* Posted his sixth career 20-kill match in the MPSF quarterfinals versus No. 6 UCSB (April 16)
