Have coffee, help cats

Brunch, adorable kittens and helping a good cause? It's a purrrrrfect match! The Nine Lives Foundation, a local nonprofit that provides shelter and care for cats needing homes, is holding a fundraiser on Sunday, April 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Cafe Venetia, 95 University Ave. in Palo Alto.

Two of Nine Lives' most well-known rescue cats, Smurf and Wanda, will be present for a meet-and-greet (watch out, Grumpy Cat!), new cat merchandise and raffle tickets will be for sale, and a light brunch will be served. All proceeds go to support Nine Lives Foundation. Tickets for brunch and the meet-and-greet are $35; tickets for the meet-and-greet only (2-3:30 p.m.) are $20.
