The U.S. men's and women's water polo teams know who they will face in the opening round of the Summer Olympics in Rio following the announcement of the brackets this past weekend.
The draw for the 2016 Olympic Games was announced following the conclusion of the Men's Olympic Qualification Tournament in Trieste, Italy.
Group A features Serbia, Greece, Brazil, Australia, Japan and Hungary. The men's water polo competition begins on August 6 in Rio when Team USA will take on Croatia.
The USA Women's National Team, defending Olympic champion, also have been drawn into Group B and the Americans join Spain, China, and Hungary. Group A features Italy, Russia, Australia and Brazil.
The women's water polo competition begins on August 9 in Rio when Team USA will take on Spain.
In other water polo news, three members of the Stanford Water Polo Foundation have been named to national teams following the completion of the USA Water Polo Olympic Development Program (ODP) Men's National Team Selection Camps.
Gabriel Discipulo and Sam Untrecht (Menlo School) have been named to the Cadet National Team while Joshua Poulos was named to the Development National Team.
