Salsbury earns GSAC weekly honor as top softball pitcher

Menlo College junior pitcher Jessie Salsbury was named the Golden State Athletics Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her efforts in leading Menlo to a doubleheader sweep of Hope International on Friday.

Salsbury went the distance in a 4-0 victory in the first game,

scattering seven hits while striking out two and walking two. The win makes her the first pitcher to record a 14-win season at Menlo College in the last 17 seasons. It was also her 12th complete game of the season and lowered her ERA to 2.74.

Menlo's 22 games won is the most for the program since 2002. The Oaks have won five straight and seven of its last eight.

The Oaks, currently in second place in the GSAC, host Vanguard University for a doubleheader on Friday and conclude the weekend with a pair of games against Biola on Saturday. Both doubleheaders begin at noon on Wunderlich Field.
