Stanford women keeping busy with U.S. Soccer national teams

 

Six Stanford student-athletes and one incoming freshman were selected to the U.S. U-23, U-20 and U-18 national teams to compete in international tournaments in Europe at the beginning of March, as announced recently by U.S. Soccer.

Jane Campbell and Andi Sullivan will head to Croatia with the U-23 National Team to play three matches in the eight-team Istria Cup from Wednesday through Monday.


Alana Cook, Tegan McGrady, Michelle Xiao and Jordan DiBiasi will travel to La Manga, Spain, for the 2016 La Manga Tournament this week. The quartet will be joined in Spain by incoming freshman Cecilia Gee, who will compete with the U-18 team through March 7.

Campbell and Sullivan open the competition on Wednesday against the full Slovenia Women's National Team before taking on the Poland U-19 Women's National Team on Friday. The U-23 squad concludes play against the France National "B" Team.

The quartet on the U-20 team begins play against Sweden on Wednesday and will take on England on Friday. The squad wraps up play on Sunday against Norway.

Gee and the U-18 team will take on three U-19 teams, beginning with Denmark on Thursday followed by England on Saturday and Norway on March 7.
