M-A girls facing a tough Open Division basketball bracket

The Menlo-Atherton girls will have their 22-game win streak tested when the Bears begin postseason play Friday in the Central Coast Section basketball playoffs. M-A, which hasn't lost since Dec. 10, will take its No. 5 seed against No. 4 Valley Christian (17-7) at Wilcox High.

The Bears' first appearance in the Open Division will be a difficult one with No. 1 Mitty (20-3) in the same half of the bracket. Also in the division is No. 2 Pinewood (20-4) and No. 6 Menlo School (19-5), perhaps a surprising entrant in the elite eight-team playoff.
