Stanford men's volleyball earns a MPSF Player of Week honor

Stanford senior Madison Hayden has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Volleyball Player of the Week, as announced on Monday.

Hayden led Stanford to a series sweep at home against then-No. 4 Hawaii. The Cardinal, which has now won 10 of its past 11 meetings at home against the Rainbow Warriors, hit .364 as a team while holding Hawaii to a .197 clip.

A native of Huntington Beach, Hayden averaged 3.43 kills, 1.71 digs, 0.86 blocks and 4.14 points per set in the two matches. He went 24-4-42 (.476) offensively for the Cardinal, which is now in a three-way tie for first place in the MPSF with UCLA and BYU.

Stanford (10-2, 8-2 MPSF) already has matched its win total from the 2015 season. This marks the first career MPSF weekly honor for Hayden and is the first by a Cardinal player since March 9, 2015 when Gabriel Vega took home the award.

Stanford remains on The Farm this week, playing host to No. 10 UC Santa Barbara on Friday and No. 3 UCLA on Sunday. Sunday's match will air live on Pac-12 Bay Area at 11 a.m.
