A preview of Palo Alto government meetings for the week of Feb. 8.
CITY COUNCIL ... The council plans to meet in a closed session to discuss the status of its negotiations with the SEIU and the firefighter, police and utility managers unions. The council will then discuss the Community Services and Facilities element in the Comprehensive Plan; approve the administrative guidelines for the city's new office cap; and consider an advocacy position for the 2016 transportation tax measure. BOARD OF EDUCATION ... The board will hear an informational update on a Center for Disease Control (CDC) study on youth suicide clusters and vote on the creation of an advisory committee on renaming school facilities as well as discuss a new "joint student support system" committee, funding to support mental health and wellness in the 2015-16 school year and the renewal of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Los Altos School District. COUNCIL POLICY AND SERVICES COMMITTEE ... The committee will discuss a proposed ordinance banning smoking at multi-family residences and creating a licensing program for tobacco retailers. PLANNING AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION ... The commission will consider an application for a single-story overlay in Royal Manor and discuss a 39,908-square-foot development proposed for 2515-2585 El Camino Real. HISTORIC RESOURCES BOARD ... The board will discuss 1250 Bryant St., which includes additions and alterations to a two-story residence and construction of a secondary-dwelling unit and a two-car garage in the Professorville Historic District. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 250 Hamilton Ave.
HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION ... The commission is tentatively scheduled to discuss the speaker series, "An Immigrant Experience in Palo Alto"; select the CDBG Review Committee members; and discuss plans for the joint HRC/Council study session. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, in the Community Meeting Room at City Hall, 250 Hamilton Ave.
