Stanford's Liedle selected 24th overall in women's pro draft

Stanford senior defender Laura Liedle was selected 24th overall by the Western New York Flash in the National Women's Soccer League College Draft on Friday morning.

A four-year starter at outside-back for Stanford, Liedle is a reliable defender and helped anchor one of the best defenses in the country throughout her career. She started 92 of 93 matches, registered 13 assists and helped contribute to 49 shutouts during her four years.

Liedle helped lead Stanford to a 75-13-6 (.830) record and two College Cup appearances during her career.

The 10-team NWSL had a four-round draft of 40 players. It begins its fourth season in April and a total of seven Stanford players have been selected in four NWSL drafts.
